IT for Accounting Firms
IT That Understands Tax Season.
UltraTax CS. Practice CS. FileCabinet CS. We've spent years in the weeds of Thomson Reuters' CS Professional Suite, the data-path errors, the Proforma rollovers, the SQL connectivity issues, so your firm doesn't have to explain your own software to your IT provider every January.
Thomson Reuters Expertise
Years Of Hands-On Thomson Reuters Support.
We've spent years supporting accounting and tax firms directly inside the Thomson Reuters CS Professional Suite. That's the kind of day-to-day, hands-on experience most IT providers simply don't have. When a data path breaks mid-season or a workstation won't launch UltraTax, you're not paying us to read a knowledge-base article for the first time on your dime. We already know these tools.
Hands-on support across the full Thomson Reuters CS Professional Suite, plus other accounting platforms like Sage.
The Accounting Analog To HIPAA
The FTC Safeguards Rule Isn't Optional. Neither Is A WISP.
If your firm prepares tax returns, you're a "financial institution" under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which means the FTC Safeguards Rule applies, and IRS Publication 4557 requires a Written Information Security Plan (WISP). That's not a suggestion. It's a legal requirement with real penalties for firms that skip it.
We build and maintain the technical side of your WISP: multi-factor authentication everywhere (including the MFA requirement in IRS Pub 5708), access controls, encryption, a tested backup plan, and the breach-notification clock the rule now runs on.
A WISP Covers
- →A named Qualified Individual responsible for security
- →An annual risk assessment, on paper
- →MFA on every system that touches client data
- →A 30-day breach notification plan that actually works
January Through April
Downtime In Tax Season Isn't An Inconvenience. It's A Crisis.
A network share that goes down in July is annoying. The same outage in March means missed filing deadlines, angry clients, and a season your firm doesn't get back. We monitor the systems that matter most exactly when they matter most.
24/7 Monitoring
Your network shares, servers, and backups are watched around the clock, not just during business hours, so a problem at 2am on April 14th doesn't wait for someone to notice at 9am.
Data-Path Discipline
"Prior Year Clients Not Found" and Proforma rollover failures are almost always a data-location misconfiguration. We verify your UT<year>DATA paths before rollover season starts, not after it fails.
We Know The Errors
"Publisher could not be verified," Practice CS SQL connectivity failures, FileCabinet access prompts. We fix these at the Group Policy / EDR-exclusion level, fleet-wide, not one workstation at a time.
A First-Class Choice, Not A Legacy One
Keeping CS Professional Suite On-Prem Is A Real Strategy.
Plenty of firms deliberately keep UltraTax CS and the rest of the suite running locally rather than hosted, and for good reasons: your clients' Social Security numbers and financials never touch a third party's cloud, there's no perpetual per-user hosting bill, and a local network beats a laggy hosted session during the exact week you can least afford lag.
We support hosted (Right Networks) environments too when that's the right fit, but if your firm insists on keeping tax data in the building, that instinct is exactly right, and it's the same instinct that should apply to AI.

Straight Answers
The Questions Every Firm Actually Asks.
Do you support cloud-hosted UltraTax (Right Networks) too, or only on-prem?
Both, fully. We support UltraTax and the CS Professional Suite whether you run it on your own servers or hosted in the cloud, including Right Networks and Virtual Office CS. Some firms want local control, others want the flexibility of hosted access, and plenty run a hybrid. We'll help you pick the right fit, or support whatever you already have.
What exactly is a WISP, and do we actually need one?
A Written Information Security Plan is a formal, documented security program required by IRS Publication 4557 for any tax preparer under the FTC Safeguards Rule. That includes solo preparers and small firms, not just large ones. If you e-file returns, you need one.
Are you set up to move us to hosted or cloud, like Right Networks or Onvio?
Absolutely. If you'd rather be out of the server-maintenance business, we plan and manage the move to hosted or cloud, whether that's Right Networks, Virtual Office CS, or Onvio, so nothing breaks mid-season, and we support it afterward. Prefer to keep things in-house? We do that too. Either way it's your call, and we're fluent in both.
What happens if something breaks during tax season?
Your systems are monitored 24/7, and issues that hit accounting software specifically go to a team that's already seen the error before, UltraTax data-path failures, Practice CS SQL errors, and FileCabinet access prompts are patterns we recognize on sight, not something we're troubleshooting from scratch on your deadline.
Do you work for Thomson Reuters, or just support firms that use their software?
We're not affiliated with Thomson Reuters. We're an independent IT provider with years of hands-on experience supporting the network, security, and infrastructure side of firms that run CS Professional Suite. For product-level licensing or feature questions, that's still a conversation with TR directly.
